Supercritical fluid technologies (Sc) are specifically used to extract and separate.
These processes are used, in particular, to obtain organic products.

Below are examples of applications and basic principles.


Drink

Extraction of caffeine in coffee by C02 Sc. It is one of the eldest industrial use. With this process the coffee you obtain is free from halogenated solvent and the caffeine acquires great added value.

Extraction of the bitter element in hop by C02 Sc This process is used to produce beer.


Crops

Insect pest control / Decontamination of the crops such as dry fruits

Fractionation of complex mixtures: oils, alcoholic and distilled drinks

Deodorization of natural products such as plant oils by C02 Sc

Extraction of molecules of interest for pharmacy and cosmetic using fruit and vegetable wastes.


Others

Extraction of the molecule responsible for the taste of stopper in the cork flour by C02 Sc This process has industrial applications in Spain.
